1. Solenoid Actuation and Low Power Hold

A transient electrical signal triggers the shut-off, and a permanent magnet or mechanical latch holds the valve closed without constant power draw. Normally Open (NO) valves remain open during normal operation without power draw. They only close when they receive an electrical pulse from a detector or control box. They must be manually reset to open, which ensures human inspection before gas flow is restored. Normally Closed (NC) valves require continuous electrical power to stay open and will shut off immediately if power is lost, acting as a fail-safe.
Q2: How do safety agencies classify explosion-proof ratings for gas detectors and shutoff valves?
Classifications like Ex d IIC T6 indicate that the equipment enclosure can withstand an internal gas explosion without allowing the flame to escape and ignite the surrounding atmosphere. Group IIC covers explosive gases like hydrogen and acetylene, while T6 indicates that the maximum surface temperature of the enclosure will not exceed 85°C.
Q3: Can these valves handle non-corrosive and corrosive gases alike?
Standard cut-off valves are designed for non-corrosive gases like natural gas, methane, propane, and butane.
